Thanksgiving a bit more affordable

Families can enjoy a more affordable Thanksgiving meal this year.

The annual survey from the American Farm Bureau Federation shows the 2023 Thanksgiving dinner total cost to serve 10 people is $61.17 which is down 4.5 percent compared to 2022 but still up 25 percent compared to 2019.

Dinner items include a 16-pound turkey for $27.35, cranberries for $2.10, sweet potatoes $3.97, carrots and celery (a half pound each) for 90 cents, green peas $1.88, 9-inch pie shells for $3.50, cube stuffing $3.77, dinner rolls for $3.84, pumpkin pie mix $4.44, whole milk for $3.74 and whipping cream for $1.73.
