Take the chance to learn

When it comes to growing corn, the principles are the same but the details have changed, such as production practices.

“We have come a long way in a short period of time,” explained Erika Parker, precision agronomist with Advanced Agrilytics. “Don’t miss an opportunity to learn about how we got to where we are.”

During a recent agronomy panel discussion in Livingston County, Parker urged growers to “take that chance” and to keep asking questions as there is always something to learn in order to be better.

Growers have done blanket fertilizer applications in the past but have the tools to do better, in Parker’s opinion.

“Let’s identify the limiting factor and manage it.”

The details are an important place for the recommendations to come from. Soil tests aren’t new but advancements are being made so we can listen to them better.
