LeRoy teacher runner-up for honor

The Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC) program has announced its 2018 Teacher of the Year Runner Up: Katie Buckley, LeRoy CUSD #2, STEM Educator and Special Education Teacher, McLean County.

Katie Buckley is secondary special education teacher and STEM Educator across the district in LeRoy, Illinois. Buckley has found that agriculture fits in well with students of all grade levels but has found a niche in STEM education and agriculture.

Buckley is an alum of the American Farm Bureau STEM on the Farm Program, has won a McLean County Maitland Grant, as well as a Farm Bureau AITC grant, and her classrooms were honored as winners of the 2017 and 2018 American Farm Bureau Purple Plow Challenge awards for integration of STEM concepts. As the Runner Up, Buckley will be the Illinois Farm Bureau nominee for the American Farm Bureau White-Reinhardt Scholarship. She will be awarded a plaque on stage at the 2018 Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting December 1, 2018 at the Palmer House in Chicago.
