FFA helps dairy farmers

NORMAL – These are tough times for the dairy industry and members of the Normal FFA Chapter realize that.

The organization started its own 10-gallon challenge which was originally the idea of a Wisconsin dairy farmer.

“There are a lot of dairy farmers that are going under right now because they can’t keep up with the low prices and it takes too much to keep their farm going,” explained Kenzie Kraft, a Normal Community High School senior.

Normal FFA members bought 10 gallons of non-store brand milk to show support to all of the area dairy farmers.

It has been a busy time for the Normal FFA as several members recently attended a leadership school to build leadership skills and the chapter will help clean up a cemetery in Carlock on Monday. Another project is Operation Santa where members will go trick-or-treating and use all of the candy to send to troops overseas.
