CULLOM – After more than 70 years, the Cullom Junior Fair is still going strong in eastern Livingston County.

Entries were up in nearly every department, something the fair board considers a very good thing.

“This is an all junior show and I think you go through phases but I think we are getting another batch of kids coming on,” said George Halpin.

Justin Moritz serves as the Tri-Point FFA alumni board president and was helping with the fair food stand on Friday morning. He grew up showing at the fair and is now giving back.

“I help with setup and teardown when capable and all the other stuff to kind of keep the fair going.”

Fair assistant secretary Diana Loschen is responsible for dealing with fair entries and state reports. She feels the fair will keep going strong well into the future.

The 71st Junior Fair was sponsored by the Cullom Fair Association and held in conjunction with the 126th annual Cullom Homecoming sponsored by the Citizens for Cullom. Weekend highlights included the St. John’s Lutheran Church food tent, a carnival, domestic arts and flower show, pie auction and sheep costume lead line.
