Field day is July 26

PONTIAC – The annual Vermilion Headwaters Field Day is set for July 26 at Wilken Farms near Chatsworth.

Registration begins at 3:30 with a presentation by the Farm Bureau at 4.Hayracks will then travel to a field where Wilken conducted cover crop strip trials, looking at different seeding rates as well as different termination dates.

Dr. Nathan Kleczewski from the University of Illinois will give the evening presentation on soybean cyst nematodes and how cover crops affect them. A local farmer panel will discuss the successes and challenges of strip till while the evening will end with a complimentary supper. RSVP to Becky Taylor by July 19 at 815-844-6127, extension 3.
