Students gain interest in greenhouse
FLANAGAN – The Flanagan-Cornell FFA greenhouse near the high school speaks for itself in terms of ag class enrollment.
Around 10 students participated in horticulture class at the school last year and that number has grown to 32 this year. FFA advisor Jessica Collins believes this is good for the future of the program and agriculture in general.
“I think we’re getting away a little bit from production ag. We have a lot of students that are from town or don’t have a production background so they’re able to get exposed to different areas of ag through the greenhouse,” Collins said.
The FFA will hold a sale the first two weeks of May with operating hours of 4-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and Saturdays 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
“There’s a possibility of opening it the last weekend in April, but we’ll have to see what Mother Nature does,” Collins adds.
As the sale dates grow closer, check the Flanagan-Cornell FFA Facebook page for detailed hours and more information.
