IAAF convention this weekend

SPRINGFIELD – “Blue Ribbon Success” is the theme of this weekend’s 108th annual convention of the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs in Springfield which also includes the county fair queen pageant.

In addition to the new queen being crowned Sunday night, other events include a trade show for fairs and various workshops. A Friday afternoon event will discuss using social media tools to improve a fair’s bottom line. The “Eye Opening Breakfast” on Saturday includes remarks from the IAAF president, Bill Redshaw, and a presentation of the “Friend of County Fair” awards.

Keynote speaker will be Aaron Alejandro, executive director of the Texas FFA Foundation. His theme will be “Live Your Brand.” The Central Illinois Farm Network’s own Kent Casson will emcee the entertainment showcasing Friday night.
