Flanagan-Cornell FFA holds auction

FLANAGAN – A good year for the Flanagan-Cornell FFA chapter continued Saturday night during the annual dinner and auction in Flanagan.

FFA Sentinel Karson Kimpling said this has been a fun year for the chapter as the FFA members have been successful in contests.

“We’ve gone to a lot of conferences and leadership training schools. I think everybody has been enjoying FFA this year,” Kimpling said.

During FFA Week, FCHS held activities such as a petting zoo, eighth grade lunch and teacher appreciation event. Kimpling enjoys meeting people through FFA.

“It’s been really cool being able to meet people and then down the road seeing them again and being about to have that interaction with them a second time,” he added.

FFA President Korbin Collins was watching over the other members Saturday, making sure everyone had fun and was involved with the event.

“It’s been crazy the past two or three weeks getting items in, getting everything organized and getting everything printed,” Collins said.

“There’s a lot of setting up that needs to be done and especially arranging the items so they can all be brought up in a timely manner for the auction,” admits FFA member John Trainor.

In addition to the silent and live auctions, a pork chop dinner was served in the school cafeteria and tours were given of the brand new greenhouse nearby.

Next up for the chapter is the annual banquet and other community events such as a drive-thru dinner. According to Collins, the FFA already has some dates booked in the summer to cook and sell pork chops locally and around the county.
