Ice, snow possible this weekend
A winter storm system is expected to impact the area Friday night through Saturday and could bring some ice with it.
The National Weather Service says Central Illinois could see a snow, freezing rain and sleet mix beginning late Friday night and lasting until Saturday night. Snow and sleet accumulations could reach a half to one inch with new ice accumulation around a tenth of an inch possible.
These amounts could change as the system hits, since the exact track of the storm isn’t known. Cold temperatures will hit the area once again on Sunday with highs only expected to reach four degrees.
