Fall tillage, other work continues


Producers continue working on fall tillage and completing harvest activities across the state, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued earlier this week.

Statewide, the average temperature was 47.6 degrees, 5.3 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.19 inches, 0.51 inches below normal. There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 20.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 12 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus.

Winter wheat emerged was at 90 percent, compared to 88 percent for the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 1 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
