Teens enjoy 4-H involvement

PONTIAC – Jared Friese, an 11-year 4-H member from Flanagan, has met quite a few people during his involvement with the organization and has learned some tricks and tips along the way.

“Over the years, I’ve met a lot of friends that I can call my best friends and mentors even,” Friese said during opening day of the Livingston County Ag Fair.

A highlight of Friese’s career has been running for king which includes filling out an application, taking part in the interview process and even campaigning throughout the fairgrounds.

“It’s really exciting to go around and talk to all of the different people.”

Adam Kuntz of Gridley is marking his final year in 4-H. He brought an intercultural project to the fair. Kuntz has taken advantage of leadership programs and all of the opportunities at the state level. He really enjoyed working on his project.

“The opportunity to just study a country and give a presentation on it is really fun and interesting,” Kuntz said.

Kuntz plans to study international business at Illinois State University in the fall with a minor in German.

Jordan Snyder of Cornell was busy getting ready to show her horse, Abby, on Monday afternoon. She has shown the animal for about a year now and previously showed rabbits.

“I love it – it’s what I love to do,” Snyder stated with a smile on her face.
