Weekly crop report


SPRINGFIELD – There were 3.8 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 29, according to the weekly crop progress report issued Monday for Illinois.


Statewide, the average temperature was 41.0 degrees, 3.8 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.19 inches, 0.28 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 13 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 15 percent surplus.


Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 18 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus.


Winter wheat emerged was at 99 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 95 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent poor, 17 percent fair, 63 percent good, and 16 percent excellent.
