Weekly crop progress report


There were 6.8 days suitable for field work during the week ending June 25, according to the weekly crop progress report issued Monday for Illinois.


Statewide, the average temperature was 75.5 degrees, 1.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.49 inches, 0.49 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 39 percent very short, 50 percent short, and 11 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 33 percent very short, 53 percent short, and 14 percent adequate.


Corn silking reached 1 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 2 percent. Corn condition was rated 6 percent very poor, 21 percent poor, 47 percent fair, 21 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.


Soybeans blooming reached 2 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 8 percent. Soybean condition was rated 6 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 52 percent fair, 20 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.


Winter wheat harvested for grain was 49 percent, compared to the 5- year average of 49 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 20 percent excellent.
