Lower wheat yield expected

USDA released the Illinois crop production information for wheat on Friday.

The winter wheat harvested area in 2023 is forecast at 790,000 acres, which is up 41 percent from the previous year. Winter wheat yield is forecast at 78 bushels an acre, down a bushel from 2022.

Production is expected to reach 61.6 million bushels, up 39 percent from last year.
