Low river levels concerning
The Mississippi River is practically at a record low heading into the fall.
Forecasters report the river in Rock Island was just over three-feet deep and water levels are expected to fall more this week. This year’s drought is being blamed for the lack of water in the Mississippi. Many fear the low levels will make it hard to ship grain down the river.
Last spring, the river reached near record highs around 21.5 feet.
