Legislation expands excused absences
Legislation in Illinois sponsored by State Sen. Tom Bennett expands excused absences for FFA and 4-H events.
Illinois students are encouraged to pursue future career opportunities while in school with the new law that allows students attending work-based learning events, including FFA and 4-H programs, to be considered as an excused absence. Bennett feels it is an exciting change for students in Illinois.
House Bill 3814 changes the Illinois School Code to count any work-based learning experience as school attendance which covers 4-H and FFA.
