Census of Ag info to be released
Data from the 2022 Census of Agriculture is expected to be released on Feb. 13.
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service concluded data collection over the summer with a preliminary national return rate of 61 percent. The preliminary return rate in Illinois is 68.5 percent. Conducted once every five years, the ag census was mailed to over 105,000 producers across the state late last year.
At the national level, Internet responses increased from 25 percent in the previous Ag Census to 40 percent for the current one. This saves taxpayer dollars, according to Mark Schleusener, IL State Crop Statistician.
Ag census data will be available at nass.usda.gov/AgCensus.
Later this winter, NASS will mail out the 2023 Census of Aquaculture and the 2023 Irrigation and Water Management Survey to producers who reported these activities in the 2022 Census of Agriculture.
