Weekly crop progress report

Statewide, the average temperature was 72.0 degrees, 1.4 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.22 inches, 0.55 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 8 percent very short, 26 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 8 percent very short, 24 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.
Corn dough was at 75 percent, compared to 97 percent last year and 94 percent for the 5-year average. Corn dented was at 34 percent, compared to 78 percent last year and 60 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was 3 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 44 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.
Soybeans blooming were at 93 percent. Soybeans setting pods was at 79 percent, compared to 99 percent last year and 94 percent for the 5-year average. Soybean condition was 3 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 42 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
