Livingston fair crowns king, queen
PONTIAC – The new Livingston County Ag Fair king and queen were crowned Wednesday night at 4-H Park near Pontiac.
The king is Garrett Pratt, a member of the Graymont Achievers club and the son of Larry and Deanna Pratt. He has spent 10 years in 4-H showing beef, sheep and hogs and entering projects for robotics, welding and visual arts.
“I’m honored,” Pratt said after the event. “It’s something that hopefully I can use to benefit 4-H.”
Laney Hunter was named queen. She is a member of Flanagan Town and Country and the daughter of Amy and Micheal Hunter. Hunter shows horses and plans to study ag business in college.
“I worked really hard today getting my name out there a little bit so it’s really gratifying,” Hunter said.
Both Pratt and Hunter will receive a $500 scholarship.
Runner-up queen candidate was Mackenzie Mantia from the Pontiac Power Rockets club. She is the daughter of Dave and Suzanne Mantia and works with horses and animal science. Mantia attended Dwight Township High School and plans to pursue a career as an ultrasound technician. Mantia receives a $250 scholarship.
The 2018 king and queen, Mark Corrigan and Megan Ifft, crowned the new royalty. Corrigan currently attends Lakeland College studying to be a John Deere service technician. Ifft studies nursing at the University of St. Francis. The 2016 king, Jared Friese, escorted the runner-up. He graduated Joliet Junior College with an agri-business degree and works full time for B&B Ag in Flanagan.
