USDA issues June reports


USDA issued the June acreage and grain stocks reports on Friday.

The government reported corn stocks down two percent from last year and soybean stocks up 47 percent. Corn planted was estimated at 91.7 versus initial intentions of 92.8. Soybean acres were at 80 million versus the initial intentions of 84.6.

Illinois June acreage:

Corn: Planted area, at 11.00 million acres, is unchanged from 2018. Harvested area for grain, at 10.80 million acres, is down less than 1 percent from last year.

Soybeans: Planted area, at 10.30 million acres, is down 5 percent from 2018. Harvested area, forecast at 10.24 million acres, is down 5 percent from the previous year.

Winter wheat: Planted area for 2019, estimated at 640,000 acres, is up 7 percent from the previous year. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 590,000 acres, up 5 percent from previous year.

Hay: Harvested area of all hay is expected to total 470,000 acres, unchanged from 2018. This total includes 240,000 acres of alfalfa and 230,000 acres of all other hay.

Illinois grain stocks:

Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2019 totaled 965 million bushels, up 2 percent from June 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 435 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 530 million bushels. The March - May 2019 indicated disappearance is 580 million bushels.

Soybean stocks in all positions on June 1, 2019 totaled 321 million bushels, up 28 percent from June 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 100 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 221 million bushels. The March - May 2019 indicated disappearance is 171 million bushels.

Old crop all wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2019 totaled 16.7 million bushels, down 42 percent from June 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 0.580 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 16.1 million bushels. The March - May 2019 indicated disappearance is 9.33 million bushels.
