Another wet week in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – There were 1.7 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending April 14, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued for Illinois Monday.

Statewide, the average temperature was 52.0 degrees, 2.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.20 inches, 0.13 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 44 percent adequate and 56 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 51 percent adequate and 49 percent surplus.

Winter wheat headed was 1 percent, compared to 3 percent last year and the 5-year average of 1 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.
