Seminar to discuss estate planning

BLOOMINGTON – A Central Illinois farm seminar is planned for next Wednesday (Feb. 27) at Bloomington.

The event, hosted by estate planning attorney Chad Ritchie of Ritchie Law Office and First Mid Ag Services, will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites near the Bloomington airport. Doors open at noon with the three presentations starting at 1:10 p.m. There will be 10 vendors on hand with some non-profit groups.

“People can go and check out the ag-related vendors we have,” explained Ritchie.

The first seminar will cover basic estate planning for farmland owners followed by a presentation on more advanced topics such as capital gains with a CPA from Clifton Larson and Allen.

“We’ll also talk about how to choose a trustee if you have a trust for your farmland,” Ritchie said.

First Mid Ag Services will host the final discussion of the afternoon on expectations for farm trends, such as sale prices, leases and markets for 2019.
