December was warm & wet
CHAMPAIGN – December was a warm and wet month here in Illinois.
“Statewide temperatures for the month were 4.2 degrees above the long-term average while statewide precipitation was .63 inches above the long-term average,” explained Brian Kerschner, with the State Climatologist’s office.
Last week brought a stormy end to 2018 for the state with three-quarters to two inches of precipitation across Illinois. Regions near Interstate 80 even saw a few snow showers before the disturbance left the state.
According to Kerscher, the Climate Prediction Center’s 8-14 day outlook is forecasting high probabilities for warmer than normal temperatures across much of the Central United States.
