Area county boards chose chairmen while new members were sworn-in and seated this week.
The McLean County Board has re-elected its chairman to another term. John McIntyre won unanimous approval during the board’s reorganizational meeting in Bloomington Monday morning.
“Thanks for expressing your confidence in me. I truly appreciate that,” McIntyre said. “We all want to work together and we all understand that.”
Jim Soeldner was chosen as vice-chairman.
“I hope to work with all of you to the best of my ability. Thanks for the support,” he said.
Chief Judge Mark Fellheimer administered the oath of office to the sheriff, county clerk and treasurer before swearing in the county board members. Fellheimer noted the ceremony signifies a “breath of new enthusiasm” and a sign of moving forward.
Bob Young will remain chairman of the Livingston County Board after a unanimous vote Monday night.
There were no other nominations during the re-organizational meeting in Pontiac.
“I’m overwhelmed and I thank you,” Young said. “We are elected by districts but we still represent all of Livingston County. Personally, I’m looking forward to working with all of you.”
There were two candidates for board vice-chair: Kathy Arbogast and Jason Bunting. Arbogast won by a vote of 19-5.
“I think Tim Shafer really needs to be congratulated for the fine job he has done as vice-chair the past two years,” said Young.
