Illinois grain stocks info released


USDA-NASS released information on Illinois grain stocks and small grains on Friday.

Illinois Grain Stocks:

Old crop corn stocks in all positions on September 1 totaled 375 million bushels, down 1 percent from September 1, 2017. On-farm stocks totaled 48.0 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 327 million bushels. The June - August 2018 indicated disappearance is 572 million bushels. Old crop soybean stocks in all positions on September 1, 2018 totaled 86.2 million bushels, up 124 percent from September 1, 2017. On-farm stocks totaled 12.4 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 73.8 million bushels. The June - August 2018 indicated disappearance is 164 million bushels.

All wheat stocks in all positions on September 1, 2018 totaled 45.7 million bushels, down 9 percent from September 1, 2017. On-farm stocks totaled 3.90 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 41.8 million bushels. The June - August 2018 indicated disappearance is 19.9 million bushels.

Illinois Small Grains summary:

Winter wheat: Harvested area in 2018 is estimated at 560,000 acres, up 19 percent from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 66 bushels per acre, down 10 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 36.96 million bushels, 3 percent above the previous year.

Oats: Harvested area in 2018, at 25,000 acres, is up 5,000 acres from the previous year. The oat yield is estimated at 83 bushels per acre, up 4 bushels from 2017. Production is estimated at 2.08 million bushels, 31 percent up the previous year.
