GIBSON CITY – Ahead of another busy harvest season, many tractor and seed dealers across the area have provided dinners and activities for patrons.

Birkey’s Farm Store in Gibson City held its annual open house over the summer – complete with dinner, a children’s tractor pull and combine clinic.

“We had one of the bigger clinics,” explained Birkey’s C.O.O. Mike Carley.

A tractor used for pulling was even on display. A Birkey’s salesman, who has worked for the company for the past 15 years, pulls throughout the area. All of the buzz among red tractor enthusiasts centers on the new Case IH 2019 mid-range combines which have a retro look with a white roof and rims along with the IH logo to celebrate the Axial Flow.

Birkey’s has 17 locations across Illinois and Indiana, with half hosting summer events and the rest holding customer events during winter.

“All of them have lunch or breakfast and have promotions along with it,” Carley adds.
