Field Update: Champaign, Livingston
SEYMOUR – Champaign county farmer Chris Karr has observed some good looking corn in his area, but he is a little worried about the soybeans this year.
“Beans don’t like wet feet. We’ve had probably more rain than we needed,” Karr told The Central Illinois Farm Network recently.
In Livingston County, precision ag specialist Nate Kelson says growers have been fortunate this season.
“There have been a few areas where a lot of beans were replanted due to spotty rains, otherwise what’s up is really looking good. We have plenty to be thankful for here.”
Kelson works for Jenner Precision, located just west of Fairbury in southern Livingston County.
