4-H club celebrates 90th

A special 90th anniversary celebration is planned for this Sunday (July 8) starting at 2 p.m. for the Linden Lead-Em 4-H Club in McLean County.

The club was started by Clarence Ropp back in 1928 with many of the members living near Linden Street extended north of Normal. Ropp and his wife, Mabel, believed the Sliverleaf Let's Go Club needed some competition. Clarence led the group for 40 years before turning it over to his son, Ray, who has been a leader with his wife for the past 50 years.

Cake and ice cream will be served at Sunday's event held at the McLean County Fairgrounds and all past and current 4-H'ers and their families are invited to attend and share memories.
