Cover crop event is Mar. 27
SAUNEMIN – A cover crop field day is planned for Mar. 27 at Saunemin, hosted by the Livingston and Ford county soil and water conservation districts and the American Farmland Trust.
The “Cover Crops and More” field day gives producers the chance to network with many conservation-minded farmers and specialists in the industry. Cover crop and soil health professionals will be on hand to address any questions.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Saunemin Community Center with registration, coffee and donuts. A bus departs at 9 a.m. for the tour, which includes different cover crop sites and a strip-till demonstration. The bus returns to the center for lunch and a presentation on nitrogen rate trials which were conducted in the area.
Anyone wishing to attend should contact the Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District by Mar. 22 at 815-844-6127, extension 3.
