View from the Cab: Movin'
I’m glad I have a new “smart” phone – especially this time of year.
The new gadget has the ability to keep me on track and tell me where I need to be and when. I need all the help I can get with ag meeting upon meeting for the next several weeks. In fact, there’s no end in sight until at least planting time.
My calendar is full of farm shows, training sessions, award ceremonies, FFA events and more. Maybe I should just figure out a way to clone myself and life could be much easier. People already ask me if I have the ability to be in two places at once.
I apologize in advance if I have left anyone out, but here are some winter events you don’t want to miss in the area:
The Precision Planting Winter Conference happening through Friday at Tremont.
Livingston County Farm Bureau Agronomy Day, Jan. 23 at the Pontiac Elks.
Midwest Ag Expo at Gordyville USA, Jan. 24 & 25.
Farmer first aid and CPR course at SELCAS in Fairbury, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
Illinois Pork Expo, Feb. 6 & 7 in Springfield.
On the Road Seminar at the Asmark Agri-Center in Bloomington, Feb. 7.
Trivia night to benefit McLean County Extension, Feb. 10.
Lunch ‘n Learn at Edinger’s in Pontiac, Feb. 12.
National Farm Machinery Show, Feb. 14-17
McLean County Chamber ag awards, Feb. 22
Ag safety fair at OSF Saint James, Feb. 23.
Farm and Home Show in Forrest, Feb. 24.
There is an entire list of area FFA auctions and meals coming up over the next several weeks but I will need to include that in a future article as this one is filling up fast! I can already smell the pork chops and cheesy potatoes.
If your ag organization has an event coming up you would like me to promote, please e-mail: cassonmedia@yahoo.com. I will be sure to include it on The Central Illinois Farm Network website and occasionally mention it on the CIFN radio programs heard throughout the area.
