Big report expected Friday

The final crop report for the 2017 season will be released Friday (Jan. 12) along with the quarterly grain stocks from Dec. 1.

Many are looking to Friday’s USDA report to move markets one way or another since there are no significant weather issues to focus on. This January report is considered one of the more important ones of the year. The national corn yield could increase and demand is expected to stay strong. Soybean yields could drop or at least remain unchanged.

Some positive news for corn Friday is critical for any type of rally heading into the next planting season. The Prospective Plantings Report will be issued March 30.
