VARNA, Illinois – Corn and soybeans are doing well throughout much of Central Illinois. This includes Woodford and Putnam counties, which Brad Schumaker covers as a district sales manager for Stone Seed.

Quite a few soybeans have been harvested in Schumaker’s territory and growers are getting a decent start on corn.

“Everybody is looking forward to a good harvest,” Schumaker explained. “We thought it was going to be a late harvest, but it looks like we could wrap some things up here in the next couple of weeks.”

Farmers Schumaker has spoken with have reported tremendous bean yields, especially with the Xtend Roudup bean. Also, a few Stone corn numbers are winning plots with plenty of top end yield potential.

“As a whole, everybody will pretty much tell you the crops are better than what they expected. Most guys are extremely happy so far as we get into harvest.”
