Settlement reached in Syngenta case
Syngenta has reportedly agreed to pay over $1.4 billion to U.S. farmers who complained they were left out of the Chinese market due to the marketing of the company’s GMO corn seed.
Bloomberg reports the settlement was announced this week in a Minnesota trial. This resolves U.S. litigation but not lawsuits in Canada, according to a company spokesperson. Terms of the settlement are expected to be announced once the issue goes before a judge.
According to Bloomberg, there were several months of negotiations between lawyers from both sides.
