Consistent results seen among varieties

ODELL – Beck’s Hybrids is promoting one hybrid which has been consistent the past three years.

The 5828 110-day corn variety has shown some impressive results lately, according to team dealer manager and seed advisor Jake Ralph.

“I think we’re going to be looking toward that hybrid again next year as our staple in the lineup.”

Beck’s 5829 is another variety which looks consistent in the plots and fields around the area. On the soybean side, Ralph says several new technologies are helping to boost yields and stay ahead of weeds.

“We are looking at several new Liberty Link bean varieties, anywhere from a 2.6 to 3.6 (maturity) for our area,” Ralph explained.

The company has also noticed drastic benefits from soybean seed treatments. Beck’s is planning to hold winter meetings during February with locations including Dwight and Bloomington-Normal.
