Final weekly report issued


Statewide, the average temperature was 38.4 degrees, 0.2 degrees above normal in the final weekly crop report of the season issued this week.

Precipitation in Illinois averaged 0.64 inches, 0.27 inches below normal. There were 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 27. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 86 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.

Winter wheat emerged was at 96 percent, compared to 96 percent for the 5- year average. Winter wheat condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.

This is the final weekly Crop Progress and Condition report for 2016. Monthly reports will be released January through March, with weekly reports resuming in April 2017.
