Elevator donates to emergency agencies

FLANAGAN – Prairie Central Cooperative has presented donations to area emergency agencies as part of a mission to donate funds in the communities the elevator operates.

A $5,000 donation was presented to the Fairbury Fire Department and Cobank contributed a $5,000 match from the Sharing Success program. The money was presented to Fire Chief Leroy McPherson and several firefighters. The department visited the Fairbury grain elevator to exchange information, learn about grain dryers and important points of interested related to emergency response.

Another $5,000 donation was presented to the Flanagan-Graymont Ambulance Service. In addition to the Prairie Central Coop donation, GROWMARK contributed a $5,000 match through the Enduring Commitments program. The donation, made at the new office on Main Street, was given to ambulance chief Dan Watson and training officer Maggie Helander. Others in attendance included Susan Ulrich, Carol Buchanan, Tom Danner and Tim Helander. Making the Flanagan presentation for PC Coop were Mike Baker, Flanagan elevator manager and elevator technician Dean Weers.

In recent years, PC Coop has made donations to local fire departments, fire protection districts and ambulance services.
